Pinson Road closure delay resolved, bridge construction moving forward
Overnight, the scheduling issue with the bridge pier drilling crew causing the bridge construction to be delayed has been resolved, according to Assistant City Manager Gina Nash.

The road closure is now scheduled for 9:00 a.m. this morning, July 11, 2013. As previously reported on inForney.com, the bridge construction is expected to last six to seven weeks. Both lanes of traffic on Pinson Road will be closed between Redbud Drive and Magnolia Drive.

The road is expected to reopen by Monday, August, 26, 2013, the first day of school. Construction on Pinson will continue after the completion of the bridge as crews work to construct the remaining four-lane undivided roadway, curbs, and underground drainage. A detour map will be published when it becomes available.

According to City Manager Brian Brooks, the city is working with TxDOT to have the portion of roadway from the bridge, which is between Redbud Drive and Magnolia Drive, to Criswell Elementary complete before the beginning of school to accommodate some of the school-related traffic. Construction crews will then work to complete the remainder of the project which will include alternating lane closures while the two additional lanes are being built.

The Pinson Road project is the final phase in Forney’s Pass-Through Toll Project and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2014. Forney’s Pass-Through Toll Project included the work at FM 741 from Bois D’Arc Street to Forney High School and the intersection of FM 548 and US Highway 80.

At the groundbreaking ceremony for the Pinson Road project on March 26, 2013, Assistant City Manager Gina Nash said, “The FM 740 project will take about a year to complete. The results will look similar to the recently completed FM 741 project with four lanes, curbs, underground drainage, sidewalks, and improved quality with the use of concrete instead of asphalt. This will be another great transportation improvement for our community.”

The City of Forney can be contacted for any questions concerning this ongoing project at (972) 564-7300.
