A much needed traffic signal at the intersection of Ridgecrest Road and Farm-to-Market (FM) is in the works, according to City of Forney Director of Public Works Chris Metz who announced the plans at the Forney City Council meeting tonight, December 3, 2013.
According to Metz, the Texas Department of Transportation has submitted preliminary signal plans for the City of Forney to review. TxDoT's timeline for a fully functional signal is April of 2014 though – not soon enough for some area residents.
“Tuesday night's announcement that TxDoT had submitted initial schematics for the signal light at FM 548 and Ridgecrest is encouraging news,” said Forney Mayor Darren Rozell after a request for comment from inForney.com “We have been working with TxDoT to get a light at this intersection since 2007. Those of us who drive through that intersection have felt for some time that a signal was warranted, and finally, TxDoT's analysis has confirmed it.”
“Relief is coming soon, but between now and then, please be patient and exercise caution,” said Rozell.
