The City of Forney presented service and performance awards to their top employees and to the employees who have worked for the city for five and ten years.

City Manager Brian Brooks presented the awards along with Mayor Darren Rozell, Mayor Pro-Tem Andy Parker, council members Ray Stephens, Darrell Hobbs, and Mary Penn at the City of Forney annual employee Christmas dinner and awards ceremony.
Fiver Year Service Awards were presented to Marquis Ivey, Dorothy Brooks, Ryan Elder, Steve Chenault, Steve Kennemer, Darren Yarborough, Gina Nash, Sabrina Payne, and Michelle Jenkin.
Ten Year Service Awards were presented to Bradley Lewis, Steven Stewart, and Brian Leathers.
The Supervisor of the Year award was presented to Parks Supervisor David Hokett who has worked for the City of Forney since 2009. Mayor Darren Rozell said Hokett received the award for his great leadership, great scheduling with a relatively small team, putting in the extra time, and for the many compliments received on the appearance of the city's parks and open spaces.
Public Works Maintenance Technician Keith Hubbard received the Employee of the Year award for his continued commitment to his job, great teamwork, being dependable and helpful, being a problem solver, and because he always goes above and beyond what is expected of him, according to Rozell. Hubbard has worked for the City of Forney since 2011.
A special “Making a Difference” award was presented to Building Maintenance Technician Patrick Nyagaka who has been with the City of Forney since 2010. Rozell said Nyagaka maintains most of the city's facilities and always does it with a cheerful attitude and a great smile. He is always willing to help others, is very dependable, friendly, and maintains his workload efficiently, according to Rozell.
After the awards were presented, Mr. and Mrs. Claus made an appearance and allowed children to sit on Santa's lap for pictures and to ramble off their list of top Christmas gifts for Santa's elves to start wrapping.
