Forney, Texas – A Windmill Farms man was arrested on New Year's Eve following a brief standoff with Kaufman County Sheriff's deputies at a single family residence in the 1000 block of Chelsea Lane in Windmill Farms.

Kaufman County authorities confirm one man was taken into custody after the standoff which began at approximately 3:00 p.m. on December 31, 2013. That man has now been identified as 31-year-old Jimmy Vorasan, according to Kaufman County jail records. Vorasan has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for which bond has been set at $50,000.
The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office media contact was unavailable for additional comment and authorities on scene could not provide any additional information. While some neighbors in the immediate area were asked to evacuate their home, others were asked to stay inside their residences.
Evidence was taken from the scene by investigators in small brown bags. All police presence at the scene was clear at 5:10 p.m. It is not known what initiated the standoff or if any other occupants were in the residence at the time of the incident.
