CRANDALL, Texas – The Crandall Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Joe Dale Cary as the new athletic director and football head coach at Crandall High School.

The board made the decision to hire the former Port Neches-Groves offensive line coach at their Monday night meeting, February 17, 2014. Cary led the District 20-4A Port Neches-Groves Indians to a 7-4 overall season record and a 5-2 district record during the 2013-14 season.
Cary holds a bachelor's degree in English from Texas A&M and a master's degree in education from Texas State University. Cary's career began at A&M Consolidated High School where he was also an offensive and defensive line coach. Cary later coached at Harker Heights High School near Killeen, Texas, and San Antonio Ronald Reagan High School before his assistant head coach and offensive coordinator position at Port Neches-Groves High School.
The Port Neches-Groves Indians were bi-district finalists three times and area champions once while Cary was coaching. Port Neches-Groves also produced 32 Academic All-State players during Cary's tenure.
