Air medical helicopter lands for Forney's Lake Pointe Emergency Department ribbon-cutting ceremony
A PHI Air Medical helicopter landed at the Forney Medical Plaza for the Lake Pointe Emergency Department's (ED) ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 30, 2013. The ceremony was presented by the Forney Chamber of Commerce at the recently opened Emergency Department on its helipad.

Since opening in the beginning of April, the Emergency Department has already set a new milestone in patients seen and/or treated at this facility in one day. That record number was 27 patients set on April 29, and a representative from Lake Pointe expects that number to continually rise as more and more Forney and surrounding area residents become more aware of the facility.

Lake Pointe CEO Brett Lee spoke of the Emergency Department's facilities after the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Lee said it has been 50 years since Forney had 24/7 medical care and that Lake Pointe strives to provide “high quality and coordinated care” for Forney and the surrounding areas.

Forney Mayor Darren Rozell said that the new facility fits with the council's vision of “partnerships for a better Forney,” that was discussed at the council's strategic retreat earlier this year. Much of the success of the facility was accredited to the vision and persistence of former Mayor Darrell Grooms, Mayor Darren Rozell and the Forney City Council, and the local community identifying the need for emergency services in Forney.

The 8,017 square-foot Emergency Department features six treatment rooms, two patient triage rooms, and a fully computerized, Level 4, accredited Primary Stroke Center alongside the already available Imaging Center.
