ALLEN, Texas – The Criswell Elementary Choir performed the Star Spangled Banner for a crowd of several thousand people on March 22, 2014, at an Allen Americans hockey game. The Allen Americans were up against the St. Charles Chill, of St. Louis, Missouri, at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas.

50 students with the Criswell Choir, under the direction of Troy Hawkins, performed the Star Spangled Banner in an a capella two part arrangement. The 4th, 5th, and 6th graders who make up the choir group received a standing ovation from the crowd after their performance.
The Allen Americans went on to defeat the St. Charles Chill, 5-4.
The Criswell Choir is currently rehearsing for a mini-concert which will be performed at the Criswell Spirit Rally on April 25, 2014. The choir is also rehearsing for their Fall Concert on May 19, 2014, which will be in the Criswell Elementary Cafeteria at 6 p.m.
The choir students dedicate 30 minutes, two days a week for early morning rehearsals before school.
