FORNEY, Texas – It's been more than two decades since the last original "Dallas" TV series episode aired on May 3, 1991, and more than 30 years since it filmed on location in Forney, Texas, at the Southern Cross Ranch off Farm-to-Market (FM) 740.

TNT reintroduced the "Dallas" series in 2012 with three stars from the original series: Patrick Duffy as Bobby Ewing, Larry Hagman as J.R. Ewing, and Linda Gray as Sue Ellen.
Forney, Texas, will once again be making an appearance in the series currently airing its third season. Most recently, the production company for "Dallas" was filming on location at Stables Club in Forney, Texas, on FM 740 on Thursday, April 3, 2014. The production company also filmed at the Knox gas station on FM 460 and U.S. Highway 80 the same day.
The original series filmed 14 times at the Southern Cross Ranch in Forney which served as the home of Clayton and Dusty Farlow and also did limited location shooting in Dallas but primarily filmed in a studio in Los Angeles. The current rendition of "Dallas" has primarily been filming in and around Dallas, Texas.
According to the series synopsis, the TNT version picks up twenty years later from where the old series ended although it is unclear what role the Farlow family will play because their names currently are not listed on the cast list. The Southern Cross Ranch in Forney may or may not make a reappearance in the show.
According to sources familiar with the filming, shots were taken inside the Stables Club and the windows were draped in black sheets during the filming. The shots at the Knox gas station were taken inside the store.
Scenes from the 2010 TV series "The Good Guys" which aired on the Fox Network starring Colin Hanks were also shot inside the Stables Club along with other exterior locations around Forney.
Several other movies were also filmed in Forney, Texas, including the 1997 film “The Curse of Inferno” starring Pauly Shore and Janine Turner. Most of its filming was done in downtown Forney and antlers were put on the Lion's Club Jackrabbit downtown and was called a Jackaloupe in the movie.
According to IMDb, other movies include the 1963 “Common Law Wife,” the 2005 video “The Fire,” the 2008 short film “The Showdown,” the 2012 short film “Hope of the Airwaves,” and the yet-to-be-released 2014 film “Stay-at-Home Dads.”
Longtime Forney residents also the recall 1993 TV series "Walker, Texas Ranger," starring Chuck Norris, filming in front of City Hall. Also the 1988 made for TV movie "Pancho Barnes," starring Valerie Bertinelli, filmed at a residence on Center Street.
“Whats Eating Gilbert Grape” actor Darlene Cates also calls Forney, Texas, her home.
