KEMP, Texas – 67-year-old William Raymond Simons of Kemp was indicted by a Kaufman County grand jury on Thursday, May 1, 2014, for the murder of Roxie Whalter Quilter on March 11, 2014.

According to Kaufman County authorities, Simons called 911 on the night of the murder claiming to have shot Quilter after an alleged domestic dispute. Simons was arrested at the scene when deputies arrived. Quilter was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Simons is currently booked into the Kaufman County Jail on a $500,000 bond and the 1st degree felony charge of murder. The incident occurred at their residence on Farm-to-Market (FM) 3396.
