FORNEY, Texas – The City of Forney and the Forney Chamber of Commerce are making final preparations for the inaugural Liberty Fest set for Memorial Day Weekend, May 24-25, 2014.

Several huge events are scheduled for the two-day festival including the first-ever Forney's Got Talent! competition, an antique car show, live music, and Forney's 140th birthday party. The annual Main Street Liberty 5K and 1-mile fun run has also been incorporated into the festival.
The festival starts on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Forney Community Park with the 1-mile fun run and the Main Street 5K at 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., respectively. This year's Main Street Liberty 5K will begin and end at the Forney Community Park but will still make its signature loop through historic downtown.

An antique car show will begin at 10 a.m. until its award ceremony at 2:30 p.m. at the Mick Spellman Amphitheater. Food trucks will be parked in the Spellman Amphitheater parking lot and live music, games, and activities will begin at 11 a.m.
Forney's 140th Birthday Party celebration will begin at 2 p.m. at the Spellman Amphitheater followed up by the car show awards at 2:30 p.m. and then fthe irst-ever Forney's Got Talent! Competition at 3 p.m..
Live music will be provided by Strings of Faith at 11 a.m., Dani Roberts at noon, and Texas Cotton Kings at 1 p.m.
On Sunday, May 25, 2014, the Liberty Fest will come to an end with a historic home tour of several downtown homes from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
