The pair loaded their shopping cart on Monday afternoon and headed for the door – making their way through security unnoticed. An alert customer outside the store noticed the two men running with the cart and loading the beer and groceries into a green Ford Escape. That customer was able to take a picture with their cell phone, called 911, and provided a description of the vehicle to police.
Forney police caught up to the suspect vehicle in the 100-300 block of westbound U.S. Highway 80 and initiated a traffic stop. Authorities confirmed the thefts on video surveillance at the store and the pair was arrested without incident.
A female occupant of the vehicle was released by police and the vehicle was impounded.
Wallace was charged with theft of property $500 to $1,500, a class A misdemeanor. Remmy was charged with theft of property over $1,500 with two prior convictions, a state jail felony. After being arraigned, Wallace's bond was set at $12,000 and Remmy's bond was set at $30,000.
