KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas – The Forney and Mesquite Fire Departments extinguished a quick-moving pasture fire on Farm-to-Market (FM) 740 moments ago.

High winds on Monday afternoon fueled the fire and pushed it eastward from FM 740 – approximately one mile south of I-20. The fire burned approximately 10 acres before it was extinguished.
The Forney Fire Department received a mutual aid call for the fire from the Mesquite Fire Department at approximately 3:30 p.m. The fire was declared knocked down just after 4 p.m. Firefighters continued to work hotspots and brush the fire. All Forney Fire Department units were clear from the scene at 4:45 p.m.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire which appeared to have begun near FM 740 in the right-of-way. An East Texas Medical Center ambulance was on scene for firefighter rehab.
