On May 25, 2013, a massive manhunt for an escaped prisoner began in Terrell, Texas, at approximately 4:30 a.m. Authorities have now shifted their search for 33-year-old Michael Rimmer of Bay County, Florida, to an area southwest of Wichita Falls, Texas – nearly three hours away from Terrell.
A private prison transport company was transferring Rimmer to Florida on drug charges when they discovered he was no longer in the transport vehicle. The vehicle stopped at the Shell gas station on FM 148 and IH 20 for gas. The search is now focused near Seymour and Olney, southwest of Wichita Falls, Texas, where authorities believe he escaped while they were fueling.
Several different law enforcement agencies joined the search in Terrell that included a law enforcement helicopter and K-9 units.
Rimmer is approximately 5-foot-10 and was last seen wearing blue jean shorts with a grey T-shirt. Rimmer had ankle and wrist cuffs on at the time of his escape.
