Concert announced for this year's 4th of July celebration in Forney

The 4th of July celebration and fireworks show is free and open to the public. According to the Forney Parks and Recreation Dept., there will be carnival games, a rock climbing wall, blow-up obstacle courses, zip lines, and other rides. Last year's event drew nearly 15,000 people.

The Forney Parks Department also announced that award-winning Texas country singer Roger Creager will be performing at the Spellman Amphitheater after the fireworks show. Dallas area cover band Railhead will be opening for Roger Creager. With bigger fireworks shells, different blast designs, and the live musical performances, this year's crowd is expected to surpass last year's numbers.

Concert tickets are $15 in advanced and $17.50 at the gate. The Parks Department partnered with two local restaurants, Doe Belly's and 4T's BBQ, to provide a dinner ticket and concert ticket for an advanced online purchase price of $22. If still available, dinner tickets may be purchased during the event at the Spellman Amphitheather concession stands. The 4T's BBQ dinner includes sausage and brisket, two sides, and a drink. The Doe Belly's dinner includes two fried fish filets, two sides, hushpuppies, and a drink.

The concert is expected to be the biggest production at the Spellman Amphitheater since its opening last year. Roger Creager was chosen as the band for the Independence Day Celebration based on the results of an online poll the Parks Department conducted.
