Officer in Zimmerman traffic stop misidentified; questions linger regarding photograph
Following the traffic stop of George Zimmerman in Forney, Texas, on June 28, 2013, the Forney Police Department and the City of Forney have yet to publicly release the name of the officer who stopped Zimmerman. Questions also arose over an "investigation" of the officer involved in the stop.

The call sheet, which details the stop, and the related dashcam video are the only items made available upon a public information request – neither of which name the officer. An incident report with the officer's name was not filed because Zimmerman was not cited for the alleged speeding. Instead, he was given a verbal warning.

The August 1, 2013, edition of the Forney Messenger misidentified "Officer A.R. Humphrey" as being the officer who conducted the traffic stop. The Messenger was not alone though. An article posted on July 31, 2013, on Yahoo! News also misidentified "Officer A.R. Humphrey" as the officer involved in the stop.

The person being misreported as the officer involved in the traffic stop, A.R. Humphrey, is, in fact, a dispatcher for the Forney Police Department. Forney City Manager Brian Brooks, who has become the acting spokesperson for this incident, told inForney.com, “There is not a police officer by the name A.R. Humphrey [in the Forney Police Department].” "ARHUMPRHEY" is listed in the Forney Police Department call sheet as the "call taker" and "user."

City Manager Brian Brooks also confirms the officer will be questioned concerning the picture shutter sound that could be heard during the dashcam video. However, says Brooks, "there is no formal investigation [as reported by TMZ.com]." The officer is off-duty until Saturday and will be questioned upon returning. But, Brooks says, "we are not going to call him in on his days off." When asked what the picture would have been used for, Brooks could only speculate the officer may have been sending the picture to his supervisor.
