A representative from Kroger has released the latest aerial photos of the new Kroger Marketplace currently under construction in Forney, Texas. The Marketplace is a new Kroger concept for store layout and offerings.
The completion date is still slated for early 2014 and a representative says that date is likely in January of 2014. The fueling station is expected to open several weeks before the store opens.
Kroger broke ground ceremoniously at the site in November 2012 and announced its plans for the new Kroger “Marketplace” concept. The entire scope of the project includes two phases – the first of which is the construction of the Kroger Marketplace and its fueling station. The next phase of development will include retail and restaurant leasing options.
Kroger's updated site plan shows two junior anchor locations, nine smaller retail locations, two restaurant locations, and four fast food locations. The Kroger Marketplace will be 123,000 square feet and is expected to bring 325-350 new jobs to the Forney area.
Bill Breetz, president of Kroger Southwest, said the new Marketplace concept “is the ultimate one-stop shopping solution for suburban neighborhoods” and that it will create an “exciting shopping experience for local families”.
The Kroger Marketplace will offer furniture, home fashion, small appliances, toys, baby products, fine jewelry and a pharmacy along with an extensive variety of fresh food options, healthy meal solutions, and traditional grocery choices. Additionally, Texas-grown produce, fresh meat and seafood, natural and organic foods, specialty cheeses, international items, chef-prepared meals, artisan breads, and premium wine and beer will line the store’s shelves and cases.
Forney’s Mayor Darren Rozell said, “The city of Forney is very excited to welcome Kroger to our community. The fact that Kroger has decided to bring their Marketplace concept to Forney makes a strong statement about the expectations of our shoppers.
