The Texas Rangers arrested Robert Allan Miller, 52, of Terrell, Texas, on April 4, 2013, for making terroristic threats against another assistant district attorney in Kaufman County. The arrest makes the second arrest this week for individuals making threats against county officials since the murders of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia McLelland on March 31, 2013.
According to the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office, Miller made the threats on a news website by commenting using his Facebook profile. The Sheriff's Office did not expand on the specifics of the threats in a press release issued on April 5, 2013, and only stated that “no specific details of this investigation and arrest will be discussed at this time.”
The Sheriff's Office did however state, “At this time, there is nothing to link Mr. Miller to the investigations of the murders of Mike and Cynthia McLelland or Mark Hasse.”
“When incidents such as this occur, resources that need to be dedicated to the investigation of the homicides of Mike and Cynthia McLelland, as well as Mark Hasse, must be diverted to investigate the threats. All threats will be taken seriously, investigated, and prosecuted in order to ensure the safety of citizens and our public officials,” stated the release from the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office.
On Tuesday, April 2, authorities arrested Nick Morale, 56, of Terrell, on charges of making terrorist threats against a public official. Morale was alleged to have been making the threats via the Kaufman County Crime Stoppers' tip line.
Both men provided interviews to NBC 5's Randy McIlwain from the Kaufman County Jail and denied any charges of making terroristic threats. That full story can be read here.
Miller was arrested at his home and was later arraigned and being held in the Kaufman County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
