Century 21 Millenium Group, the Slocum Allstate Insurance Agency, and inForney.com, in conjunction with the City of Forney and Forney ISD, organizers of the 2nd Annual Unity Bowl Tailgate Party, are preparing for the showdown between Forney High School and North Forney High School set to hit the football field at 7:30 p.m. sharp at City Bank Stadium on Friday, October 25, 2013.
The event organizers announced last month the event would be moved from its previous location at the City Bank Stadium parking lot to the Mick Spellman Amphitheater at the Forney Community Park. The tailgate party will be from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The event was changed to the amphitheater to hold a concert while participants enjoyed another year of free all-you-can-eat brisket, pulled pork, and hotdogs. “The BBQ and the game is what originally brought us together, now a concert and the community will be what keeps us together,” said event organizer and sponsor Matthew Malone of Century 21 Millenium Group.
The organizers are proud to announce Greenville native and country singer/songwriter John David Kent will be performing for the 2nd Annual Unity Bowl Tailgate Party at the Spellman Amphitheater. If you're a fan of John David Kent's you probably already knew this by seeing Forney, Texas, listed as one of his many tour dates on his website.
John David Kent signed his first major record label at the age of 16, had three singles on his last album hit the top 20 on the Texas charts, and also had a featured hit video on CMT Pure Country. John David Kent's new album “Before The Sun Comes Up” will release on October 1, 2013.
John David Kent told inForney.com, “I'm super excited to play in Forney and I can't wait to play at the Spellman Amphitheater. The amphitheater looks great and I couldn't turn it down after my friends Justin [Fivecoat] and Matt [Malone] from Forney asked me about doing the concert.”
Malone gave a special thanks to the Forney Parks and Rcreation Department and said, "The use of their facility was a big request because the following day is the largely attended annual Trail of Treats. Richard Curry and his staff did not hesitate when they heard the plans and, with the help of Alexa Tiesman, have been instrumental in making this event a success."
The Forney Community Park will be used for overflow parking and optional parking for the Unity Bowl. Shuttles will be provided to and from the park before and after the game. Admission is free to the event and concert and free BBQ while it lasts.
Various booster clubs will be in attendance selling drinks to raise money for their organizations. No alcohol is allowed at this event or in the park.
