Forney, Texas – A four vehicle accident temporarily closed Pinson road on Friday night, September 20, 2013, just before 9:00 p.m. The accident occurred on Pinson Road/FM 740 between the entrance to Chicken Express and Brazos Street.
This section of roadway is currently undergoing major road construction and is narrow with cement barricades on either side of the road. Two vehicles traveling in opposite directions on Pinson hit each other head on. The first accident caused a secondary accident when one vehicle rear-ended another stopping for the first accident. There was light rain and drizzle in the area at the time of the accidents.
No major injuries were reported. The two vehicles involved in the head on collision were an older model, single cab Chevy/GMC pickup truck and a Ford SUV, and both were towed from the scene. The other two vehicles were able to drive away from the scene of the accident. The accident was cleared by 9:22 p.m.
Construction crews have begun laying the new concrete on the northwest side of Pinson Road. Once construction of the two lanes is complete, traffic will be diverted to the new section of roadway while crews complete the other side of Pinson Road which will become a four lane undivided road. In the meantime, the limited space construction crews have to work in has made for a narrow Pinson Road.
