Kaufman, Texas – Kaufman City Manager Curtis Snow is expected to make a recommendation for the Kaufman Police Chief position at the Kaufman City Council's next regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, November 25, 2013.
According to Snow, there are three finalists for the police chief position and he will make a recommendation to the Kaufman City Council to select candidate Sergeant Dana Whitaker to fill that position. Whitaker is currently a sergeant with the Kaufman Police Department and a Forney resident.
“He brings a wealth of experience to the job after retiring from the Dallas Police Department as head of their Intelligence Unit,” said Snow in an email response to inForney.com. “We are fortunate to be able to obtain such a high quality Police Officer to lead us through our changing times.”
Whitaker was also a finalist for the police chief position in 2012 after then Police Chief Michael Holder left for the police chief position in the City of Colleyville's Police Department. Chris Aulbaugh was ultimately selected as the chief of police in 2012 but resigned in July of this year to become Coppell's deputy chief of police.
Kaufman Police Department Captain John Laney has been serving as interim police chief since Aulbaugh's resignation in July.
