Kaufman, Texas - Kaufman Police Department Sergeant Dana Whitaker of Forney has been chosen to lead the Kaufman Police Department as their new police chief. Whitaker will be the third police chief since 2008 in Kaufman – not including Captain John Laney who served as interim police chief.
Whitaker was among three finalists in the search for a new chief after Chief Chris Aulbaugh resigned to take a position in the Coppell Police Department. Kaufman City Manager Curtis Snow made the recommendation to select Whitaker at the Kaufman City Council meeting on November 25, 2013.
“He brings a wealth of experience to the job after retiring from the Dallas Police Department as head of their Intelligence Unit,” said Snow in an email response to inForney.com. “We are fortunate to be able to obtain such a high quality Police Officer to lead us through our changing times.”
