A high speed Garland police pursuit ended in Terrell, Texas, Wednesday night, December 11, 2013, at approximately 11:30 p.m. with the arrest of 23-year-old Zachary Pate of Terrell.

The pursuit, which saw speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour, began in Garland, Texas, on Garland Road after a Garland Police officer attempted to stop Pate for speeding. The pursuit then entered I-635 before it turned east on U.S. Highway 80. The pursuit quickly entered Mesquite, Texas, where Mesquite Police officers joined the chase.
Once the pursuit entered Forney, additional Garland officers joined the chase and the Mesquite officers disregarded. Kaufman County Sheriff's deputies along with a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter also joined the pursuit that exited Farm-to-Market (FM) 148 and entered into the city limits of Terrell, Texas.
The pursuit weaved in and out of residential streets before Pate stopped in the 600 block of West College Street near the intersection of Pacific Avenue in Terrell, Texas. Pate exited the vehicle and surrendered to police without any further incident.
Pate appeared to stop in front of a relative or friend's home. After being taken into custody, Pate's red 2005 four-door Infiniti G35 was parked in the driveway of the home where the pursuit ended.
Pate was charged with speeding and evading arrest, according to the Garland Police Department. Pate also had a previously existing felony probation violation warrant for assault for which he is being held on no bond. Pate's bond was set at $100,000 for the evading arrest charge and a fine will be determined for the speeding charge.
