The City of Forney and Community Waste Disposal (CWD) are planning an additional day for brush collection this week on Saturday, December 14, 2013, because of an increase in downed trees and branches caused by the winter storm last week.
Emergency responders spent Friday morning last week clearing roadways of downed trees and branches caused by the freezing temperatures and icy conditions. The additional weight of the ice accumulation on branches and trees was too much to handle even for young healthy trees.
For brush pickup, individual branches should be cut shorter than four feet and weigh less than 50 pounds. “Any brush not collected on Saturday will be collected with normal service on Wednesday,” according to the City of Forney.
