According to Crandall ISD Public Relations Spokesperson Kristen Reznicek, “There are any number of good programs we have wished for over the years which could enrich our students, but which we simply could not afford.” Reznicek also serves as Co-Executive Director of the new Crandall ISD Education Foundation. "The Foundation will give us a chance to fund many of these worthwhile programs and projects.”
Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Dr. Sharon Long indicated raised funds could provide for innovative teaching grants, specialized computer software programs, equipment for creative science experiments, and a variety of other creative projects suggested by teachers and staff.
"The group has created the Crandall ISD Education Foundation to give the people in our community a chance to help others in the same special ways the Crandall ISD may have helped them," stated President of the Crandall ISD Education Foundation Board of Directors Holly Wise. "We intend to support a variety of educational projects which otherwise, would not exist."
Crandall ISD Superintendent Dr. Robert Jolly added, "The idea of the Foundation comes from other districts throughout the country that have begun a similar organization in recent years. It is estimated that over 5000 public school districts have established education foundations.”
"The Crandall Board of Trustees is excited about the educational possibilities that the Foundation will open for our students," said Crandall ISD School Board Trustee Robyn Foster. "We anticipate that area businesses and residents will begin to consider the Foundation along with other groups to which they donate. The Foundation intends to create an ongoing program and will publicly announce the results of its fund raising efforts each year."
Crandall ISD Education Foundation directors include Holly Wise, Jakie Allen, Amy Barber, Craig Barrack, Christi Carr, Doranda Conner, John DeFillipo, Shelton Gibbs, Tara Goldsmith, Charlinda Gray, Kristan Hall, Charles Jones, Valarie Knowles, David Lindsey, Sharon Long, Mekesha Maupin, May Patel, Kimberly Purifoy, Donna Rakestraw, Lara Reed, Kristin Reznicek, Katy Ruzicka, Christopher Sawyer, Larry Settles, Jo Nell Walden Stuart, and Roger Wise. Foster will represent the Board of Trustees as a voting member for the foundation. Superintendent Jolly will also serve as a voting member representing Crandall ISD.
