Terrell, Texas – A varsity basketball matchup between Forney High School and Terrell High School came to an abrupt end just seconds before the buzzer to end the second quarter at Terrell High School on Friday night, January 24, 2014.

According to witnesses who spoke with inForney.com, the fight began as Forney was lining up for free throw shots after a foul call. “The fight quickly escalated from shoving, to punches, to both benches being cleared,” a witness told inForney.com.
Once the benches cleared, people started coming out of the stands too, according to one of the witnesses who also said, “I would say, for the most part, the fans that went out there tried to stop the fight.”
Because both team benches cleared, every player was ejected from the game by the referees and the game was unable to continue with a final score of Terrell 13, Forney 8. It is unclear at this time what sort of penalties, if any, will be imposed on both teams by the UIL moving forward. Both athletic programs have video which will certainly be reviewed extensively.
Forney ISD Athletic Director Neal Weaver was unavailable for comment on Friday night citing a need to gather additional information. As more information becomes available, this article will be updated.
