A Terrell player fouled a Forney player which sparked the fight near the end of the first half Friday night, January 24, 2014. The fight quickly escalated as players from both teams and spectators from the stands stormed the court.

Independent investigations were carried out by both the Forney ISD and the Terrell ISD to determine the appropriate disciplinary actions. Those disciplinary actions were reported to the 10-4A District Executive Committee (DEC) which met earlier this morning and voted unanimously to accept the disciplinary actions determined by Forney Independent School District (ISD) and Terrell ISD.

Two players from Forney High School and two players from Terrell High School received five game suspensions which is effectively a season ending suspension with only five games remaining in the season. Additionally, four players from Forney High School received a one game suspension which they sat out on Tuesday in their matchup against crosstown rival North Forney High School. Two players from Terrell High School also received a one game suspension.

The DEC also accepted the official's decision to end the game with the final score being Terrell 13, Forney 6. The DEC will now report their final decisions to the University Interscholastic League (UIL).

“Forney ISD student athletes understand that their conduct during athletic events in not only a reflection on themselves, but also on other students, their school, and the district as a whole,” said Forney ISD Director of Communications Larry Coker. “For this reason, their behavior must be exemplary and reflect the finest attributes of the total Forney ISD student body at all times and places.”

The Terrell ISD released this statement to inForney.com, “Terrell ISD is committed to developing a strong moral compass within each and every one of our students. TISD students are expected to act with dignity and make good decisions both in the classroom and during athletic events. This incident is currently being investigated and appropriate actions have been taken in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct."

Students who left the stands during the fight also received disciplinary actions. No arrests were made following the incident and no criminal charges have been reported.
