Forney, Texas – The filing period for potential candidates officially opened yesterday for places 1, 3, and 5 on the Forney City Council and positions 1 and 2 on the Forney Independent School District's Board of Trustees for the May 10, 2014, general election.

The filing period will end on February 28, 2014. Applications for city council can be picked up from the city secretary's office on the 2nd floor of City Hall at 101 East Main Street. Applications for Forney ISD Board of Trustees can be accessed online at the district's website or in person at the Forney ISD Admin Building located at 600 South Bois D'Arc Street.
A major change to this year's Forney ISD Board of Trustees' election is candidates will now have to file for their position instead of an at-large election like in previous years.
Place 1 on the Forney City Council is currently held by Darrell Hobbs, Place 3 is held by Robbie Powers, and Place 5 is held by Mary Penn. Position 1 on the Forney ISD Board of Trustees is held by Becky Dobbs and Position 2 is held by Greg Pharris.
Nobody has filed at the time of reporting.
