Forney, Texas – Forney High School and North Forney High School will be holding their 4th Annual "Health Matters" Forney ISD Softball Invitational on February 13, 14, and 15, 2014, at the Forney Community Park.

The tournament hopes to draw attention to a special cause close to many of the players' hearts – Love for Laurren, an organization founded to honor Laurren Smith, a Forney teenager, who lost her battle with cancer in 2009.
Pink polar fleece headbands with the Love for Laurren logo will be sold for $15 at the tournament with proceeds benefiting both softball booster clubs and the Love for Laurren organization. A box for toy donations will also be set up during the tournament to collect gifts for the Love for Laurren “Grab and Go” box at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Unwrapped gifts suitable for ages 13 to 18 are recommended.
24 teams will be attending the tournament which serves as the main fundraiser for both teams. Gate fees are $6 per adult, $4 for seniors and students, and children under four get in free.
“We are glad the teams chose Love for Laurren as their charitable organization during the tournament and their support for Children's hospital,” said Love for Laurren representative Rhonda Crabtree. Love for Laurren and the “Grab and Go” box also receive contributions from Laurren's Closet which is a boutique in downtown Forney opened by Brian and Patty Smith – Laurren's parents.
