Tire shop burglarized following Forney PD warning of wheel and tire thefts
Forney, Texas – The Forney Police Department sent a warning via social media yesterday about potential theft of wheels and tires for owners of late model Chevy trucks and SUVs with Texas Edition upgrades – which could sell for approximately $1,800 to $4,000 for a complete set on eBay.

According to the department, over the past weekend they received several reports of wheels and tires being stolen from the described vehicles between the hours of 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. The suspects are using landscape blocks to set the vehicles on while they steal the wheels and tires.

“If you hear your dogs barking or anything suspicious please call the [Forney] Police Department,” states the release. If you have any additional information concerning the thefts, contact Forney Police Department Sergeant Prewitt at (972) 564-7607.

At approximately 6:15 a.m., on Tuesday morning, February 11, 2014, the Forney Police Department responded to a burglary alarm at Performance Tire at 124 East U.S. Highway 80, a full service auto and tire shop located behind Rio Lerma restaurant. According to the owner of the shop, Jason Chiles, 12 20-inch truck tires were stolen from the front of his store. Chiles said the locks were the only thing damaged and the registers weren't disturbed.

The Forney Police Department secured the building and later collected fingerprint evidence at Performance Tire.

A request for additional information from the Forney Police Department was not returned at the time of reporting. It is unclear if the incidents are related and how many thefts were reported.
