KCSO: Law enforcement search at Lake Tawakoni yields nothing
Kaufman County – A Texas Department of Public Safety dive team searching Lake Tawakoni has come up empty-handed, according to Kaufman County Sheriff Public Information Officer Fred Klingelberger. The agency was assisting the Kaufman County Sheriff's office who were attempting to locate a piece of evidence based on a lead they received.

For now, Klingelberger said, the dive team has concluded their search and did not return to the lake this morning. It is unclear if the dive team will return to the lake to continue to search for evidence related to the tip the department received. The search was conducted near the Two Mile Bridge which spans the lake on State Highway 276.

“We've been out there before,” said Klingelberger in reference to yesterday's news about the search. “But, it's not uncommon for the DPS dive team to go out and search a lake.”

Kaufman County Sheriff David Byrnes did confirm with the Kaufman Herald in an article published today the search was related to the Eric and Kim Williams murder trials who were charged last year in the murders of Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse, Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland, and his wife, Cynthia.

Byrnes was not immediately available for further comment at the time of publishing.
