The crews began the closures yesterday and removed concrete barriers along the highway's shoulder. During the lane closures, a paint crew also began painting the overpass. Lane closures are also expected while crews begin the steel work to tie in the new exit and entrance ramps from the service road to the highway.
According to City of Forney's Public Works Director Chris Metz, the Texas Department of Transportation has notified the contractors to not deploy lane closures in the westbound lanes during morning rush hour and to not deploy lane closures in the eastbound lanes during evening rush hour. On Wednesday morning, the right lane on the eastbound side was closed.
An updated timeline on the Gateway Bridge completion was not immediately available.
