A gunman was killed after being involved in a shootout with Kaufman County Sheriff's Office deputies and DPS state troopers. According to the Sheriff's Office, they received a call around 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, April 27, of an individual with a gun, shooting, and making threats to residents.
The incident took place minutes east of Terrell, Texas, near County Road 316. When deputies and state troopers arrived, the gunman began shooting at them. Three officers sustained non-life threatening injuries during a scuffle with the suspect, not from gunfire. The unidentified gunman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities also made an arrest related to the incident, more details may possibly be released tomorrow concerning this arrest. The Texas Rangers are the lead investigators in the shooting.
