On April 19, a female teacher at Terrell High School was placed on administrative leave for inappropriate communication with students. On Friday, April 26, a district spokeswoman said that teacher is still under investigation and could not comment on whether or not criminal charges have been filed, citing the ongoing investigation.
A source close to the incident says that the inappropriate communication involves a picture of the teacher. The investigation centers around whether or not the picture was knowingly transferred between the teacher and the student. "Whether or not the picture or pictures were intentionally sent will do little for her career as an educator. Teachers are held accountable for their actions inside and outside of the classroom," said the source who wished to remain anonymous.
“Terrell ISD Administrators and staff are unable to communicate the details of the investigation because it is a personnel matter. However, we do want to guarantee to our parents and students that our Administrators and staff, including the Terrell ISD Police Department are working to ensure the safeguard of our students,” stated a press release from Terrell Independent School District.
The Terrell ISD Police Department is investigating this incident. A letter notifying parents of the incident was sent home with Terrell High School students on April 19.
