FORNEY, Texas – The Forney High School girl's soccer team (15-6-4 overall, 10-2-0 district) will advance to a UIL Class 4A sectional playoff game against Wylie (16-3-5 overall, 4-3-1 district) next week after sweeping Royse City 3-0 on Friday night, March 28, 2014, at Forney's City Bank Stadium.

Kickoff was slightly delayed due to severe thunderstorms moving through North Texas. City Bank Stadium's turf field provided an advantage against the weather and kickoff resumed around 6:15 p.m.
The first goal of the game came off the foot of Kayleigh Phillips in the first half. Phillips is ranked by the Dallas Morning News as the 7th leading scorer in the area with 25 goals.
The first half of play on the pitch ended with Forney up 1-0 over Royse City.
Forney's offense continued to pressure Royse City's defense throughout the second half. After battling for the ball near Royse City's corner, Forney was awarded a corner kick. Rebecca Huffman crossed the corner kick to the backside of the goal where she connected with Caylon McMillan for a header goal with 6:29 remaining on the clock.
Royse City was determined to get back in the game and had some late-game advances that wound up unsuccessful. Forney's final goal came after one of the Royse City advances was cleared by a Forney defender and Forney's Mason Davis gained control, positioned, and drilled in a long goal from just past mid-field with 1:25 left in the contest which sealed the 3-0 win for Forney.
Wylie defeated Kaufman, 3-1, in their area-round playoff game at North Forney High School earlier today.
