KAUFMAN, Texas – An 85-year-old Kaufman, Texas, woman was found dead in her home yesterday, March 31, 2014. Although her exact cause of death has not been determined, authorities believe she may have been killed by two aggressive dogs in the home.

Dorothy Hamilton, identified by the Kaufman Police Department as the victim, was found in her home in the 1400 block of East First North Street in Kaufman, Texas, by her son at approximately 4:46 p.m. Hamilton was found in the living room of the home.
According to the Kaufman Police Department, “Two large, very aggressive pit bulls [were found] inside the residence and it appeared that the animals had attacked Hamilton.”
The dogs belonged to the victim's son who was keeping them at Hamilton's residence for several months. Police seized a total of eight pit bulls from the property. The two dogs involved in the attack were being kept in a bedroom inside the home but had “broken through the door to get to the victim,” according to the Kaufman Police Department.
An official autopsy is still pending. No charges have been filed at this point.
