FORNEY, Texas – The sixth annual Main Street Liberty 5K race and 1-mile Fun Run will be held in conjunction with the inaugural Liberty Fest which will celebrate the City of Forney's 140th birthday on May 24, 2014.

The certified race and other festivities will be held at the Forney Community Park with the start and finish line at the Mick Spellman Amphitheater. The 1-mile Fun Run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 9 a.m. The race will be chip timed by Race Chip Timing.
The race course will go from the Mick Spellman Amphitheater to downtown Forney and park to the park. An awards ceremony will be held within the amphitheater. Awards will go to the top three finishers in all age brackets from age 14 and under to age 65 and older. There will also be awards for the top three male and female masters.
Early registration is $25 per adult and $20 per student before May 16, 2014. Regular registration and day-of registration is $30 per adult and $25 per student. Registration instructions and a printable registration form can be found online at the Forney Economic Development Corporation's website or participants can register at www.active.com.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the tourism efforts of the Forney Chamber of Commerce.
