FORNEY, Texas – The Gateway Cedars apartments plan to open in late summer 2014 as the cornerstone to the Gateway development on the north side of Forney.

A year has passed since the construction began on the 14.5 acre site southeast of Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 and southwest of Reeder Lane. The complex will be on the new Gateway Boulevard which will remain closed to thru traffic until the apartments open, according to city officials.
Gateway Boulevard will connect FM 548 to the Gateway Bridge which will span U.S. Highway 80 and the Union Pacific railroad. The boulevard will eventually connect to FM 1641 to the west of Helms Trail.
The three-story apartment complex plans to begin leasing in August of 2014. Leasing prices will vary depending on the amenities in the unit including options for granite counter tops, flooring, black or stainless appliances, patio sizes, fixtures, ceiling heights, and square footage. According to a representative of the Gateway Cedars, preliminary pricing for the one bedroom units will be between $700 and $970 and two bedroom units will be priced between $1,080 and $1,400.
The complex will consist of 334 units of one and two bedroom apartments with square footage between 568 square feet and 1,281 square feet. The complex will include a pool and deck area, on-site workout facilities, and at least two common areas for recreational use. Parking garages, covered parking, and storage units will be available.
The exterior of the apartment buildings will be primarily brick and stone with metal and wood being used for patio railings, according to site plans released last year. Live Oak, Cedar Elm, Red Oak, Pine, Caddo Maple, White Ash, and several other tree types will be planted within and around the complex.
