The fish fry will take place between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. with the auction to follow until 10 p.m. Crandall High School is located at 13385 Farm-to-Market (FM) 3039.
The Crandall Fire Department was forced to sell two fire trucks, an engine and a tanker, and other firefighter equipment last month to pay off some department debt and to satisfy one of two fraudulent loans.
Last year, the Crandall Volunteer Fire Department's treasurer, secretary, and chaplain Denny Mackey was arrested and later released on bond from the Kaufman County Jail after allegedly using department equipment as collateral on two loans totaling $140,934.27. The department still has a $75,000 loan at Crandall's American National Bank which has been deemed fraudulent.
The Crandall City Council approved the purchase of a new city engine with City of Crandall funds in March. Until the new engine is delivered, the department is down the two fire trucks it sold. Delivery of the new engine is expected in September 2014.
