The Terrell Police Department began the crackdowns last year in December at four convenience stores across the city for gambling promotion and keeping a gambling place – both class A misdemeanors. This past week's search warrants were executed at Bobby's Club at 1115 East Moore Avenue and Side Street Bar at 106 South Adelaide Street.
On Friday, May 2, 2014, investigators seized 8 eight-liner gambling devices, one motherboard per machine, a cash box, a DVR, and $5,500 in cash at Bobby's Club. According to the Terrell Police Department, charges are still pending for the suspects involved in the sponsoring and payment of transactions.
Also on Friday, “officers made entry into the establishment and detained personnel and patrons [at the Side Street Bar],” according to the Terrell Police Department. Investigators seized 8 eight-liner gambling machines, one motherboard per machine, a DVR, a cash box, and $3785.75 in cash.
An investigation is also being conducted at the Side Street Bar to determine drug activity associated with the bar after investigators found several small bags of methamphetamine and marijuana, needles, a digital scale, and an unclaimed purse with drug contraband, a smoking device, and a Texas drivers license identifying the owner.
Charges are still pending for the suspects involved in the sponsoring and payment of transactions at the Side Street Bar as well as any possible drug charges.
