FORNEY, Texas – The installation of a traffic signal has been warranted at the intersection of Farm-to-Market (FM) 1641 and Helms Trail in Kaufman County, southeast of the Forney city limits.

The intersection has been a concern for area residents because of the high rate of speed on FM 1641 and a blind curve as you approach the intersection from the south from IH-20. There is also a daycare located at the intersection which has been the scene of several major accidents over the past several years which have only increased with the population growth in the surrounding area.
The installation of the signal will begin soon, according to a City of Forney official familiar with the construction. The contractors responsible for installing the traffic signal at the intersection of Ridgecrest Road and FM 548 in Forney, Texas, will work simultaneously on both projects, according to the official.
Crews have already begun work on traffic signal at Ridgecrest Road and FM 548. Conduit and electrical work has been done at the site and the bases for the signal poles have been poured.
