TERRELL, Texas – In an announcement yesterday, May 30, 2014, the Texas Transportation Commission (TTC) approved approximately $152,300 in funding for planned airport improvements at the Terrell Municipal Airport (TRL) during their May meeting.

The project costs will be funded through the City of Terrell and the Texas Department of Transportation's Aviation Facilities Grant Program to begin work on a drainage study. A project consultant will be selected this summer, according to a TxDOT news release.
The Terrell Municipal Airport has plans for future industrial development and the construction of new T-hangars, corporate hangars, and conventional hangars, according to their website.
According to the release, TxDOT will provide approximately $60 million in funding for planning, construction, and maintenance at approximately 275 eligible community airports. Community airports account for more than three million flight hours per year and provide aircraft facilities for agricultural, medical, business, and commuter use.
