Starplex theater temporarily closed today due to popcorn machine fire

According to a theater representative, signs will be posted at the front of the theater notifying movie-goers when they re-open tonight. She hopes to be open by 4 p.m.

The popcorn machine fire was reported at approximately 2:20 p.m. and prompted the evacuation of the theater. The fire was contained and quickly extinguished with fire extinguishers. Minimal damage was reported to the popcorn machine and surrounding appliances.

Firefighters used fans to clear smoke from the theater. A Forney Fire Department fire marshal remained on scene to notify the theater when it could re-open to the public.

22 Jump Street and How to Train Your Dragon 2 both opened in theaters today. Depending on when the theater re-opens, here are the scheduled showings:
