KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas – Two vehicles collided overnight on a highway frontage road near Terrell, Texas, causing one vehicle to roll several times and the other vehicle to catch fire – killing its driver, according to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Kyle Bradford.

The accident occurred early Sunday morning, June 22, 2014, at approximately 2:03 a.m. on the north service road at the intersection of Spur 557 and U.S. Highway 80 just west of the Terrell, Texas, city limits.
According to Bradford, both vehicles, a Chevy Tahoe and a Chevy pickup, were traveling westbound when they crossed into each others' lanes and collided. The pickup veered off the road, struck a sign, and caught fire. The Tahoe also veered off the road, struck a culvert, and rolled several times – landing on its side. Both vehicles came to a rest on the north side of the service road in a donut shop and a motel parking lot, respectively.
The pickup truck was occupied one time by its driver who was fatally wounded. The Tahoe was occupied two times and both occupants were transported by ambulance to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
The fatality in this accident makes it the third fatal accident in Kaufman County this weekend.
