FORNEY, Texas – An accident involving an overturned 18-wheeler tractor closed eastbound U.S. Highway 80 at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, July 2, 2014. The highway remained closed for approximately an hour-and-a-half and re-opened at 8:08 a.m.

The accident occurred on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 approximately 100 yards east of Farm-to-Market (FM) 460 and its eastbound highway on-ramp. The 18-wheeler tractor was not hauling a trailer at the time of the accident.
Officials have not yet determined the cause of the accident. Its also unknown whether or not the driver was already traveling eastbound on the highway or if the driver used the FM 460 on-ramp. The driver of 18-wheeler tractor was transported to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, with unknown injuries.
All eastbound traffic was diverted off the highway and onto the south service road. Drivers re-entered the highway on the Broad Street exit while the highway was closed.
