As a recount for the Forney City Council Place 4 looms, the other candidates running in the May 11 Election were sworn into office. Forney City Secretary Dorothy Brooks swore in the winning candidates after the results of the mayoral race, City Council Place 2, and City Council Place 6 were canvassed and certified.
Mayor Darren Rozell, Council member Andy Parker, and newly appointed Council member Ray Stephens were each sworn into office. Rozell secured a win against challenger John Carr; Andy Parker achieved the widest margin of victory in his defeat of Joc Lomax; and Ray Stephens ran unopposed and has officially been elected to office since his appointment. Each candidate was also presented with their certificate of election.
The recount for Forney City Council Place 4, the race between incumbent Mayor Pro-Tem James Hatley and candidate Scott Regan, will take place May 21, 2013, at the Kaufman County Annex building. The unofficial results have Regan winning the election by a mere two votes.
