TERRELL, Texas – The Terrell Police Department has a person of interest and substantial leads in a shooting investigation stemming from a shooting in their city last Saturday, July 19, 2014 in the early morning hours.

According to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom, at approximately 1:42 a.m. last Saturday, their department received a 911 call about a male with a gunshot wound at the Shell gas station in the 300 block of West Moore Avenue.
Officers arrived a short time later to find a 26-year-old male victim lying with a gunshot wound on the ground next to his vehicle. He was later transported to Lake Pointe Regional Medical Center in Forney, Texas, and then to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
The victim's vehicle had “evidence of gunfire as well,” according to Sansom. Investigators further determined the actual shooting took place at a different location.
The victim's vehicle was seized as evidence in the investigation and several witnesses were identified and questioned.
The case is still under investigation, according to Sansom who says they have a person of interest, substantial leads, and evidence which is being processed.
The victim's name is being withheld due to the ongoing criminal investigation, according to Sansom.
