TERRELL, Texas – A vehicle stalled and became partially submerged by flood waters over East High Street in Terrell after rainfall, described as torrential by the National Weather Service, swept over Kaufman County overnight.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas, issued a significant weather advisory at 2:54 a.m. after detecting a cluster of thunderstorms capable of producing torrential rainfall rates of up to three inches per hour.
Just after 3 a.m., the driver of the vehicle became trapped in the quick-rising flood waters on East High Street between North Delphine Street and State Highway 34. The driver was able to safely exit the vehicle and the flood waters before police arrived.
East High Street was closed to allow the flood waters to recede and was re-opened a short time later. The water level near the vehicle was estimated between two and three feet deep.
