Between July 13th and 16th, the Forney Police Department responded to 28 reports of criminal mischief stemming from reports of windows being shot by a BB gun.
The incidents were reported in nearly every neighborhood in Forney including the Trails of Chestnut Meadow, Deerfield Heights, Park Place, and Diamond Creek. The 28 reports filed with the Forney Police Department do not include confirmed reports of the same type of vandalism in Windmill Farms. A number of incidents from the Kaufman County Sheriff's Department could not be obtained prior to this publishing.
The Spellman Museum, which is under construction in downtown Forney, was also affected. The vandals shot out one of the newly-installed windows and a portion of the sidewalk needed to be closed to avoid injuring any passing pedestrians.
There was also one report of a home window being shot, although its location was not immediately confirmed. No reports of theft have been reported with these vandalism incidents.
According to the Forney Police Department, the Criminal Investigations Department is investigating these cases and a suspect or suspects has not been identified.
Depending on the total reported damage, the vandal(s) responsible for these incidents could face criminal mischief charges, which may be misdemeanors, state jail felonies, or higher felony offenses.
