On September 3, 2013, the Forney City Council will hold their regularly scheduled City Council meeting at City Hall at 6:30 p.m. As always, the council meetings are open to the public.
The City Council will hold a public hearing for the proposed 2013-14 fiscal year budget. The council will also read, for the second time, the proposed resolution for the $2 million bond sought by the Forney Economic Development Corporation (FEDC). That item also includes the proposed project list as previously reported by inForney.com.
Also on the agenda is an action item to confirm and validate an election in May of 1994 which allowed the collection of a half-cent sales tax to be used for Type B economic development purposes. The purpose of this confirmation and validation is a process needed to move forward with the proposed $2 million bond for the Forney Economic Development Corporation.
The Forney City Council will also discuss and consider the approval of the Hotel Occupancy Tax Grant agreement. The council previously deliberated the agreement after council members raised questions concerning the misappropriation of HOT Funds. The Forney City Council hopes the new agreement will hold the recipients of the funds more accountable.
Along with the approval of the HOT Funds Grant agreement, the council will approve the distribution of the funds based on applications received.
The Forney City Council will also hold an executive session and take any action necessary as a result of the executive session.
