Food drive instead of birthday for 10-year-old Forney girl
Forney, Texas – 10-year-old Emma Ambrose of Forney decided for her 10th birthday she wanted to do things different. Instead of your typical birthday party, Emma has put together a food drive that will benefit the North Texas Food Bank.
The food drive is being called “Emma's Pantry of Hope.” For two hours on Saturday, September 21, 2013, Emma will have her birthday party/food drive at C-Life Church from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Emma is asking for non-perishable items and canned goods for her birthday.

Because it's a birthday party, there will also be free food, movies, bounce houses, and other fun things for the kids to do while donating to help others. Emma has already begun collecting food items and, as of her last count on Sunday, she has collected 224 food items.

“I was completely blown away when Emma said she wanted to do the food drive instead of her typical birthday parties or sleepovers,” said Emma's mother, Cathryn Ambrose. “We are so proud that Emma decided to spend her time trying to provide help to families and children in need.”

Emma's actual 10th birthday was on Monday, September 16, 2013, but she was 9 when she started the planning. Emma is a 4th grader at Johnson Elementary in Forney ISD.

“She is truly a blessing from God in our lives and we are excited to see that promise paid forward to others,” said Cathryn.

C-Life Church is located at 204 FM 1641, Forney, Texas 75126. Emma's Pantry of Hope on Facebook.
